On November 19th through 20th, 2024, a bomb cyclone ravaged the Pacific Northwest in states such as Washington, Oregon, and California, causing power to go out and trees to fall and killing two people. Now, you may be wondering what a bomb cyclone is? A bomb cyclone is a storm that develops after a pressure drop of 24 millibars or more in less than 24 hours. This bomb cyclone caused a flood advisory in Northern California, where more than 16 inches of rain fell, which caused serious flooding. Also in the mountains in Northern California, about 15 inches of snow fell, which caused blizzard conditions. All of these conditions caused trees to fall on homes, which killed one woman. About 330,000 people lost power, and there were hazardous driving conditions caused by ice on the road, making it very dangerous for drivers.
