On November 15, 2024, after weeks of rumors, Six Flags Great Adventure announced that it would be closing Kingda Ka, the tallest roller coaster in the world. Kingda Ka is 456 feet tall and goes 128 mph. Along with closing Kingda Ka, Six Flags Great Adventure also announced it would be closing other attractions, such as the Green Lantern roller coaster, Zumanjaro which is the world’s tallest drop tower, and the Twister ride. Many fans of the ride are sad to hear of its closing because the park gave no warning that the ride was being closed before it closed. Although this may be sad for some fans, Six Flags Great Adventure has announced it will be building two new roller coasters to replace these attractions: one that is opening in 2025 called The Flash: Vertica Velocity, and a record-breaking launch roller coaster to open in 2026.
